18.03.2025

A Noerr team led by Susanne Rummel and Gerald Reger has advised the Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH on the long-term funding of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaft e.V..

The Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH supports the innovative approach of the Max-Planck-Institut für medizinische Forschung in translating fundamental research findings into practical applications. As part of this initiative, two new departments of the institute will be located in Heilbronn. Scientists from the Max-Planck-Institut für medizinische Forschung intend to study and synthetically replicate biological systems such as proteins, cells, organoids and skin models with unprecedented precision through interdisciplinary collaboration.

In addition, funding from the Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH will enable the long-term development of the Max Planck Schools, a joint graduate programme of currently 26 German universities and 35 non-university research institutions. In the three existing schools, Cognition, Matter to Life and Photonics, ambitious doctoral students from all around the world are mentored by leading researchers in these fields.

Both projects will sustainably strengthen innovative cutting-edge research and international graduate support. Additionally, the Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH in Heilbronn will finance construction measures for the institute expansion, the Max Planck Schools and a meeting centre.

The Technische Universität München (TUM) and the ETH Zürich are already based at the Educational Campus in Heilbronn; an innovation park for AI is currently being set up. A team led by Gerald Reger and Susanne Rummel previously advised the Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH on the funding of 41 endowed professorships at the Technische Universität München in Heilbronn and at the locations of the Technische Universität in Munich and Garching.
