Noerr wins Wirtschaftswoche award for M&A Deal of the Year

Noerr has been awarded the “Best of Legal Award 2022” in the Deals category by the German weekly business news magazine Wirtschaftswoche. The jury was impressed by Noerr’s advice given on the expansion of PreZero, the environmental division of the German Schwarz Group.

The PreZero Group, which is in the business of waste and recycling management, has grown strongly in recent years through acquisitions and today has a workforce of around 30,000 in Europe and the USA. During the implementation of its buy-and-build strategy, Noerr, with a team led by Gerald Reger and Maurice Séché, has been PreZero’s key advisor covering all areas of law. Major milestones included the acquisition of SUEZ’s waste management and recycling business in several European markets and the takeover of Ferrovial’s waste management and recycling business in Spain and Portugal in several parallel transactions.

Gerald Reger and Maurice Séché accepted the award on behalf of the Noerr team. “We are very proud of our colleagues who have done a tremendous job,” said Gerald Reger. “In a highly regulated environment, we were able to successfully complete extremely complex and multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions in a very short period of time,” added Maurice Séché.
