Noerr shores up its M&A practice in Warsaw by recruiting Renata Patoka and Karol Kicun
Leading independent law firm Noerr is reinforcing its cross-jurisdictional advice on mergers and acquisitions in Poland. Two experienced corporate lawyers, Renata Patoka and Karol Kicun, will be joining Noerr’s Warsaw office as associated partners in early 2023.
Renata Patoka will already be joining our firm on 1 January 2023. The 48-year-old represents the interests of Polish and international clients in M&A transactions, warranty and indemnity insurance and corporate matters such as restructuring and reorganisation. She mainly advises strategic investors and has specialist knowledge of the food and pharmaceutical sectors. Patoka studied law at the University of Warsaw and most recently worked for the Polish law firm SSW. Prior to that, she worked at Eversheds Sutherland for more than 20 years, acting as co-head of the firm’s M&A practice group in Warsaw.
Karol Kicun will be joining Noerr on 1 February. The 38-year-old represents the interests of Polish and international clients throughout all phases of M&A and private equity transactions. His clients include financial investors, strategic investors, owner-managed companies and state-owned enterprises.
Kicun will be joining Noerr from the Polish law firm MJH. After studying law at the University of Warsaw, he started his professional career in 2008 at the Warsaw office of US law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, moving to Deloitte Legal in 2016. The Legal 500 directory listed him as a recommended private equity lawyer in 2019. Kicun will be heading our M&A practice group in Warsaw.
“We are delighted to have gained two such highly experienced corporate lawyers as Renata Patoka and Karol Kicun,” said Paweł Żelich, head of Noerr’s Warsaw office. “Both of them have been representing their clients’ interests in complex national and international M&A transactions with great success for many years, and they will help us to strengthen and grow our corporate practice in Poland.”
"The M&A practice in Warsaw is very important to us for strategic reasons," said Alexander Hirsch, co-head of Noerr’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. "With our unique presence in Eastern Europe, we can best support our clients in cross-border transactions with a cross-practice group team."
