Noerr celebrates a decade in Brussels and reinforces commitment to Europe
Two days after the European elections, Noerr celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Brussels office. The event, held at the Belvue museum, welcomed around 200 distinguished guests from the realms of consulting, politics, EU institutions, and business. Among the attendees was the esteemed German economics professor Lars-Hendrik Röller. In his keynote address, Röller, a former Chief Economist of the EU Commission and long-time Chief Economic Advisor to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, emphasised, “Brussels is pivotal to the economic development and integration of the EU single market. The next Commission will provide new and decisive impetus to advance competition policy in the EU.”

Situated at the heart of the European institutions, Noerr’s Brussels team advises corporations and financial investors on transactions, including merger control, foreign direct investment control and subsidies. The team also represents clients in antitrust and state aid proceedings. They advise on legal issues relating to the digital economy, particularly concerning the Digital Markets Act, and have successfully established a foreign trade practice, encompassing sanctions and customs.
Successful growth
Noerr’s office in the EU capital underscores the importance of advising both national and international clients in markets governed by European regulation. “Our practice is integral to our European antitrust and foreign trade practices, contributing our EU expertise,” says Jens Peter Schmidt, managing partner of Noerr’s Brussels office, who was recently recognised as one of the ten most important advisors in Brussels by the specialist publication “Table.Media”. “In recent years, we have successfully secured significant mandates for complex EU merger control proceedings, FDI clearances and EU antitrust litigation.”
“The growth trajectory and strategic expansion of our portfolio reflect the firm’s commitment,” says Alexander Ritvay, co-managing partner of Noerr. “We are looking forward to further bolstering our presence in Brussels.”
Noerr is one of the leading independent law firms in Europe with six offices in Germany and offices in Alicante, Brussels, London and New York. By focussing on the qualitative development of its advisory services, the firm has achieved above-average growth in recent years.
