Noerr advises Sweden’s Hedin Mobility Group on acquisition of German multi-brand car dealer Torpedo Group
With a team led by our Munich partners Robert Korndörfer, Eckhart Schleifenbaum and Mansur Pour Rafsendjani, Noerr advised Swedish Hedin Mobility Group on the acquisition of Torpedo Group with head offices in Kaiserslautern.
Hedin is taking over a total of eight companies which combine all the automotive activities of the Torpedo Group. The companies will be acquired through the group’s wholly owned subsidiary Hedin Automotive GmbH. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and scheduled to be completed in the second half of the year.
Hedin, a family-owned company established in the Swedish city of Mölndal in 1985, is one of the largest manufacturer-independent car dealers in Europe and has a turnover of 52.7 billion krona (approximately €4.8 billion). Hedin employs more than 8,000 people in 13 countries and sells vehicles of 44 automobile brands, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Peugeot, Renault/Dacia, Toyota, MG and BYD.
The acquisition will enable Hedin to massively expand its activities in Germany and to cover the entire automotive business segment in future, ranging from import and distribution of vehicles and spare parts to retail and the aftermarket business.
The Torpedo Group, founded in 1928, achieved a turnover of more than €500 million in 2022, selling 12,000 new and used Mercedes-Benz, smart, Hyundai, Land Rover and BYD cars.
