04.09.2020

Patrick Neidinger (37) and Florian Schmitt (35) are to join Noerr on 1 November 2020. The IT law specialists will add to the expertise of the Digital Business practice group in the firm’s Munich office.

“We are delighted that Patrick Neidinger and Florian Schmitt have decided to continue their careers at Noerr,” said partner Peter Bräutigam. “Both of them have advised a wide range of major companies on their digital transformation in the past and know how to acquire and build on client instructions. With their experience in the automotive, chemicals, energy and financial services sectors, their skills will be particularly valuable for us in matters requiring knowledge of corporate and information technology law.”

Patrick Neidinger, who will be joining Noerr as an associated partner, studied law in Frankfurt. He obtained a master’s degree during his time abroad at the University of Southern California. His most recent position was at law firm Linklaters in Munich.

Florian Schmitt, who is also joining Noerr from Linklaters, studied in Augsburg and Washington D.C. and wrote his doctoral thesis on the topics of data protection and telecommunications law. Like Neidinger, he also has long-standing experience in handling complex IT projects and outsourcing transactions.

Noerr regards itself as being a pioneer and market leader in providing advice on the legal aspects of the digital transformation of the economy: for several years, Noerr has been the only law firm awarded five stars in the IT categories Contracts/Processes and Transactions/Outsourcing by legal publisher JUVE.

The firm recently advised Sparkasse’s central IT service provider FI-TS on entering into an outsourcing agreement with Google Cloud. Before this, Noerr assisted Bayer AG on restructuring its IT – Germany’s largest IT-related advisory matter of the last ten years. Apart from this, the firm advises companies on issues involving the use of artificial intelligence.

Leading associations in Germany and Europe also rely on Noerr’s advice: in 2017, Noerr drew up the cross-European survey Legal issues of digitalisation in Europe together with  Business Europe, the European umbrella association of national industrial and employers’ federations. Prior to this, Noerr organised a questionnaire targeted at the legal departments of German companies on the topic of digitalisation with the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and drafted the legal opinion Digital Economy/Industry 4.0 on behalf of the BDI.
