Noerr advises Bregal on takeover of trendtours
Noerr has advised funds managed by Bregal Unternehmerkapital on a significant takeover in the tourism sector. The Munich-based investment company has acquired the trendtours Touristik GmbH as part of a succession arrangement. The shares were sold by the company's founder and by the Managing Director and other shareholders.
trendtours is one of the leading tour operators in Germany and offers a broad portfolio of individual packaged tours. Together with the employees of trendtours, Bregal intends to continue ongoing initiatives while also focussing on new growth paths. Bregal Unternehmerkapital is part of the private equity business of a family-owned business that has been built up over generations.
The transaction has already been completed.
For the takeover of trendtours, Bregal instructed Georg Schneider (co-head Private Equity) and his team to act for it. In the travel sector, the Noerr Private Equity practice group has recently advised the Turkish company OTI Holding A.S. on its entry into the German travel market (acquisition of the tour operator of the Cologne-based investment company Media Ventures GmbH), Bridgepoint on the acquisition of Kreuzfahrtberater GmbH or trivago on its IPO on the NASDAQ. In the tourism sector the firm also regularly advises the travel group Thomas Cook.
